A journey into Emirati’s past could well begin through the door of a Arabian Tea House in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, once known as Al Bastakiya. As you step into the Arabian Tea House (although old-timers would still prefer to call it the Basta Art Café), you transported into the old times, authentic style with turquoise benches, white rattan chairs, lace curtains and beautiful flowers, enjoying your cup of gahwa (traditional Arabic coffee) in the shade of an old tree and the languid air swoons around you, dreamlike, as if it were always afternoon.
People of the United Arab Emirates have seen dramatic change over the last few years, change that has provided them with all the benefits of a modern, developed society. At the same time, however, both the government and the people are determined that their heritage shall be preserved, in a line with the late Sheikh Zayed’s belief that ‘ people that knows not its past can have neither the present nor the future’.

“Arabian breakfast is nice, so many things I try first time here. Rose jam is so good by the way. The atmosphere is nice with a climated roof. Staff are so welcoming with a great service mind. Come before lunch then visit the local market is also a good plan”
Amazing place, best breakfast I’ve ever had since long time, I’ll be coming back for sure
Located in Bur Dubai, ambiance is really serene. Resembles the old, traditional part of the city. Serves some refreshing drinks. I tried Blooming Tea, a beautiful flower with nice aroma, blooms when dipped into hot water. looks ans tastes good as well. A variety of breakfast trays, including a combination of scrambled eggs, cheese, syrups, Jam and fresh Breads. One tray is sufficient for 2 People. Altogether a soothing place that will really please your taste buds.
“The main goal of the Arabian Tea House is to give you a feel for the proper Emirati life. From the moment you enter, you will be surrounded by pictures and artworks which reflect the life of the local people. The Arabic tunes will provide the perfect background to your mezze and karak tea. It is open from 8:00 AM- 10:00 PM which makes it a good stop for breakfast, dinner and everything in-between. If this place exceeds your budget, don’t worry as there are many options surrounding it.”
Visit for a delightful authentic experience. However try book a table & plan on parking before departure. They have air conditioning for the warmer months, however they only have a shaded open roof to keep it authentic 🙂
Great food and atmosphere! Kiran was my waiter and gave very good service– l recommend to try all the teas they offer
This place is absolutely fantastic! Top notch Emarati and Arabic food, with the prices reflecting this. Also, the seating area is lovely and shaded from the sun.
Loved my shrimp salad! The fresh bread was super yummy. Pineapple juice was also super fresh – best I’ve had in a while. Environment of course isn’t the same as the original in old dubai, but to be expected. I’ll be coming back for breakfast!
“Huge fan of the location in Sharjah. This location not so much. Everything is great from the service, to food to the tea but what is letting it down is if you’re sitting out in the additional seating which is located in the mall it has no feeling. You are literally sitting inside the open mall. Maybe some side walls or something to give it some ambience a”
“One time experience for the common people.. but pretty decent place and rates for the Arabic food and beverages…. very good service… Luminous ambience.. specially after sun set.. Better to have with group of people or families 😉😉😉”
Well decorated , Nice and quite place. Suitable for families , have out door and indoor seatings. provides hot and cold beverages in addition to food, serves breakfast and sweets, the staff are amazing and very welcoming. the place located in heart of Sharjah the historic area. next to Sharjah museum and old Souq. parking available. area and place are crowded over weekend.
Great food, nice environment, good staff
“I loved this place, the prices are reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious and hot. We ordered “”Saloona chicken”” and the “”Chicken shawarma”. The staff was delightful and sweet, very friendly and welcoming. The best thing about the restaurant is the sensation that you’re outside when you’re actually indoor enjoying the nice breeze of the AC 😌 Highly recommended especially after a day in the Fahidi Neighbourhood or a visit to the museum of illusions.”
